If you are anything like me, the last several months have caused an uneasiness about almost everything. The level of corruption, ineptitude, and what seems to be pure evil, is breathtaking. The institutions that society should rely on have failed to protect individual rights. They have failed to provide any sort of cohesive intelligible guidance/data. They have proven to not have the public’s best interest in mind. So what do we do, who/what can we rely on when it comes to our health, our safety, and our future?
As professing Christians we must do some self-evaluation and allow ourselves to be confronted with the commandments that are found in Holy Scripture. However, there are some fundamental questions that we need to ask ourselves.
Do we believe what the Bible says about itself?
2 Timothy 3:16-17 - 16 All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness; 17 so that the man of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work.
Do we take time to read, study, and understand the Bible?
Joshua 1:8 - 8 “This book of the law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it; for then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have success.”
Do we faithfully trust its instruction and live accordingly?
Matthew 7:24-27 - 24 - “Therefore everyone who hears these words of Mine and acts on them, may be compared to a wise man who built his house on the rock.
25 “And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and slammed against that house; and yet it did not fall, for it had been founded on the rock.
26 “Everyone who hears these words of Mine and does not act on them, will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand.
27 “The rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and slammed against that house; and it fell—and great was its fall.”
Before doing anything else, you must be honest with yourself. How do you answer the questions above? The verses that I listed, don’t even scratch the surface of what Scripture has to say about our lives and eternity. So what is your answer? What are you relying on to guide you through the insanity of this earthly existence?
My desire for this blog is to explore, together, the amazing riches that God has provided in His Word. Until next time…….let me recommend that you read the book of Ephesians and just see if it starts to open up your eyes and the troubles of this world start to fade.
